About

I adore bears! Teddy bears, real bears, all bears!

I collect teddy bears as well as make them.

Bear hunting - Vegetarian style (",)

Thank you. Before I start with the 'About' bit, I must give some thanks.
I want to thank:
  • My son, for being enthusiastic about my obsession and taking and accompanying me at all the amazing places
  • My daughter-in-law for also for taking and accompanying me to all the amazing places
  • The people of New Bern for having me and putting up with this crazy Welsh woman snapping images of awesome bears when on whistle-stop tours of this fine city
The following are notes from each year I have visited.

In 2023 after such a long break caused by weddings, illness and Covid restrictions, I'm back! Only to find that there are no longer 50+ but 70+ bears in total. Along with my son and daughter-in-law, I have hopes that 2023 may be the year I actually leave the U.S. with no bear left un-visited. Although, this isn't looking likely due to one bear in particular that is nowhere to be found! But, who knows, maybe when I come back again, there may just be a whole lot more.

In 2016 I took my son, my daughter-in-law and her mum to go Bear hunting :-)
It was a short hunting expedition due to the fact that Hurricane Matthew was due to hit within hours, so we had to make it fast and get back to safety.
A new bear was to be created this year, I was aware of some delays but I had to leave before he was situated in his new home.

In 2014
I visited New Bern in NC, USA (for a weekend) and noticed they had, dotted about the wonderful place, bear statues. Being a Brit that loves bears, I went on a "bear hunt" with my son and daughter-in-law, who live in the states.

This blog is my gallery of the bears I found when visiting. There are over 80* bears in total, so it might take me a while being a Brit that lives a few thousand miles from the home of these wonderful arty bears!

    1. I that's funny, I just bet my friend, we are not locals, that she couldn't find all the bears and take a picture with them. Today is day 1 of "bear-n-seak".

    2. I lovely people! I am back in the US and, whilst I don't have them all yet, I'm doing my best. Stating a little longer than the 'usual' weekend this time.
